Arclaine Hashimwiyaturagiye

Arclaine Hashimwiyaturagiye is the CEO of SpringEco, an innovative social enterprise committed to the circular economy and plastic waste recycling in Burundi. A graduate in economics, she has extensive experience in the non-profit sector and social entrepreneurship.

She has coordinated numerous projects focused on environmental protection, the socio-economic empowerment of young people, and waste management and environmental education initiatives in schools and communities, promoting the art of plastic waste recycling.

A recipient of several awards, Arclaine has won four prizes, including the Innovation Week, Light Award, Shika Award, and the Innovative Ideas Competition on Climate Change Mitigation, all in the environmental category. She has also represented Burundian youth on the international stage, notably at COP28 and Youth Conneck Africa 2022, demonstrating her strong commitment to climate justice.

An innovator, she develops local solutions such as transforming plastic waste into recycled pens, contributing to pollution reduction and the creation of sustainable economic opportunities.

Her community leadership and climate work have been widely recognized. She continues to collaborate with various organizations to promote youth empowerment, the circular economy, and a sustainable future for Burundian communities.
